Caroline Vincent

Mrs. Caroline Vincent Dead
Passed Away at Haven Saturday Afternoon Funeral This Morning.

On Saturday afternoon Mrs. Caroline left the cares of the world and followed her husband, Jonathan P. Vincent, who departed this life May 28, 1898. She lived a long and useful life and will be remembered as a good Christian woman. Death had no terror for her but came in answer to her desire to follow her husband. Mrs. Vincent died at Haven where she had been making her home. Funeral services were held there this morning and her body was laid to rest in Eastside Cemetery at Hutchinson beside her husband who died last year.

She was the daughter of Joseph and Caroline Morehead, and was born April 12, 1835 in Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, near the town of Bethlehem. She moved with her parents in 1854 to Lucas County, Iowa, where she was married to Jonathan P. Vincent, October 11, 1858. She came to Reno County with her husband in 1883, and has since resided here. For the past thirty-five years she has been a member of the M. E. Church, and at her death was a member of the First M. E. Church of Hutchinson.

She was the stepmother of Frank Vincent of this city and was the mother of nine children all of whom are still living, Mrs. Rachel Payne, John F., Willis E., William G., Otys I., Isaac B., Martha J., Charles H. and Chester Vincent, all of whom are married but Mattie, Charles and Chester. She will be remembered by her children as all that the name of mother should mean and her loss will be sincerely regretted by all who knew her.
